British celebrity and model who went from finishing second in Britain’s Next Top Model to hosting the show nine years later.

Born in Liverpool, Abbey Clancy formed the girl group Genie Queen, managed by OMD frontman Andy McCluskey, before getting her big break in the second series of Britain’s Next Top Model, broadcast on Living TV. A ten-week long competition and a professional modelling contract on offer, Abbey reached the final runway show but ultimately lost out to fellow contestant Lianna Fowler.

After showcasing her talents on Britain’s Next Top Model, Abbey featured on the cover of Arena magazine, straddled the Triumph Bonneville Motorbike for the Daily Mail and, in 2010, starred in the swimsuit edition of Sports Illustrated wearing nothing but body paint in support of the England national team for the FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

Abbey built upon her already impressive fashion credentials with appearances in documentaries such as Slave to Fashion and The Ultimate Bikini Guide, both on Channel 4. The confident Liverpudlian also made appearances on shows such as GMTV, This Morning, The Chris Moyles Show, and Friday Night with Jonathan Ross, all of which helped develop her public persona as a fashion influencer and celebrity model.

Abbey also starred in her own reality TV series, Abbey and Janice: Beauty and the Best, which documented her attempt at breaking into the Los Angeles modelling scene. The series was broadcast in the UK on Living TV and in the States on Oxygen.

Proving she can dance as well as she can model, Abbey Clancy won the eleventh series of Strictly Come Dancing, in 2013, with professional dance partner and newcomer to the show Aljaz Skorjanec. The pair received their first scores of 10 in Blackpool, a key week of the show, and were the first couple in the eleventh series to score a perfect 10 from all four judges.

Abbey has made it onto FHM’s annual ‘100 sexiest women in the world’ list on numerous occasions, breaking into the top ten in 2010.

Abbey Clancy came full-circle in 2014 when she was announced as the new host for a revived series of Britain’s Next Top Model, the show which, nine years earlier, had launched her career.

Advertising & Endorsements

Abbey’s hard work to become one of Britain’s most-recognisable models led to her being chosen as the brand ambassador for the Giles Deacon 2011 ready-to-wear collection. This was the same year that she married her boyfriend, footballer Peter Crouch, wearing a Giles Deacon dress reported to have cost £10,000.

Abbey also fronted Ultimo’s glamorous 2014 spring/summer collection.
